Happy Stars

These bright and happy stars are part 4 of the Star Surround Quilt Along. I tried different pressing strategies when making these stars and ended up doing a mixture of pressing to the side and open which seemed to work out for me. I have always pressed to one side in the past but I can see the advantage of pressing open, especially in all those seams that meet in the center. So do you press to the side, open or a combination?

Happy stitching!

You are fast. I press all mine open and your centers are beautiful.

They look great! I hope to put mine together this afternoon. ? I'm pretty inconsistent with pressing--usually to the side, but I've been experimenting with open seams when it is bulky. Seems to work ok, but can be harder to match up points without the abutting seams.

very pretty. It depends on what I am working on but generally to one side.

I used to press to one side always, but lately I have begun pressing open--BUT--when many seams cross I have trouble deciding which to do!
Very pretty stars you have there, Heather...Julierose

It depends in how lazy I'm being :). Very impressed you already have your put together!

I love your colors! I usually press my seams open, but sometimes the fabric takes on a life of its own and insists on being pressed to one side or another.

I'm making 8pointed stars just now and press the seams in a circular shape. the centre 'tails' then open up like a flower and lie flat.

I normally press to the side but I am trying to do this block "right" and have taken the time to press it open. I have to admit it makes a difference.

Your stars are beautiful!

Your starts are gorgeous. The colors are so happy.
When I make blocks that many seams meet like this one I always press open. It makes all the difference.
I have tried to get approval for the LE group to get the directions; but I am still waiting for them to moderate. Did it take you a long time to get it? Thanks for sharing. I really like your blog

Happy Stars indeed!! I do a combination of pressing to the side or open. I think different blocks suit different ways.

Your stars look wonderful, I oove your fabric combos. I'm a combo presser, whatever the blocks needs.

Gorgeous colors on those stars!
I'm no help with pressing, I hate it. I do whatever works.

I've always pressed to the side, but whatever you are doing looks so perfect so don't change a thing! I love the zippy orange/red fabric in your stars...

In stitches,
